On a trip to Thailand with Zen's Extreme Adventures, Zen experiences visions and time travel when she holds life chest artifacts. After learning of a lost golden temple, she travels to Bangkok in the 1700s by the power of the Dynasty chest. Zen wants to save the temple and the people in the past who risked everything to protect it, while shielding her team from danger in the present. Cricket (her new robotic “botpack”) and the other time travelers she meets help Zen in her efforts to balance past and present.

The story began in 1600s Bangkok. There, a boy named Lek grew from a poor “river rat” to be the “River King,” using his employer's ill-gotten gains to help the people. The monks he studied with as a boy kept his carved rosewood chest safe in the golden temple he created for them, while Lek risked his life to be the Robin Hood they desperately needed.
